    What is Calculator?

The Calculator is a free online tool that combines three calculators in a single page. The Math mode is a standard calculator with squares, square roots, percent, parentheses, sign change, and a full set of memory keys (MC, MR, MS, M+, M−). The Engineering mode adds a wide set of scientific functions — trigonometry and inverse trigonometry (in degrees or radians), hyperbolic functions, logarithms including log₂, powers such as , 10ˣ and , roots, factorial, rounding, and built-in constants such as pi and e — with a DEG/RAD toggle. The Accountant mode is an adding machine with a running tape, a subtotal and grand total, plus dedicated tax/VAT and markup/margin helpers. A History panel records every result and remembers it across visits, and full keyboard input is supported. Everything runs instantly in your browser with no signup, so you can switch between everyday arithmetic, scientific work, and bookkeeping without leaving the page.

    How to use Calculator?

Pick the mode that matches your task, then enter your figures.

    1. 1 Choose a mode at the top of the calculator: Math for everyday arithmetic, Engineering for scientific functions, or Accountant for a tape-based adding machine.
    2. 2 In Math or Engineering mode, type numbers and operators, use %, squares and roots, store values with the Memory keys (MS saves the current value, MR recalls it, M+/M− adjust it, MC clears it), and review past results in the History panel, which is saved across visits. You can also type directly with your keyboard, including the ! factorial key and Enter to evaluate. In Engineering mode, expand the extra row for hyperbolic functions, log₂, 10ˣ, and rounding, and switch between DEG and RAD before using trigonometry.
    3. 3 In Accountant mode, add or subtract figures one by one — each entry is recorded on the running tape with a live subtotal and grand total you can clear at any time.
    4. 4 Use the built-in Tax / VAT helper to add or remove a tax rate from an amount, and the Markup / Margin helper to derive price, profit, or cost from a cost figure and a percentage.

    Why use this tool?

A single tool that covers arithmetic, scientific functions, and accounting saves you from juggling several apps. The History panel and running tape let you trace every step, which is useful when you need to double-check a long calculation or reproduce a result later. The tax/VAT and markup/margin helpers turn common business math into one-click operations, so you do not need to remember the formulas. Because it works entirely in the browser, it is fast, private, and available offline once the page has loaded.

    Examples

    Adding VAT to a price

In Accountant mode, enter an amount of 200 and a rate of 15 in the Tax / VAT helper, then choose Add Tax to see the tax amount and the gross total instantly.

    A trigonometry calculation

Switch to Engineering mode, set the angle unit to DEG, and compute sin(30) to get 0.5, alongside hyperbolic functions, logarithms (log(100) = 2), powers, and factorials (5! = 120).

    Pricing from a target margin

Use the Markup / Margin helper: enter a cost of 40 and a margin of 25 percent, then derive the selling price and the resulting profit in one step.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Calculator free to use?

Yes. The Calculator is completely free, with no signup, no limits, and no account required. You can use all three modes as much as you like.

What is the difference between the three modes?

Math is a standard calculator with memory keys, Engineering adds scientific functions such as trigonometry, hyperbolic functions, logarithms (including log₂), powers (xʸ, 10ˣ, 2ˣ), roots, factorial, rounding, and constants, and Accountant is an adding machine with a tape plus tax/VAT and markup/margin tools.

What does the DEG / RAD toggle do?

It sets the angle unit for trigonometric functions in Engineering mode. Choose DEG for degrees or RAD for radians before computing a sine, cosine, or tangent.

How do the memory keys work?

MS stores the current value in memory, MR recalls it into your expression, M+ and M− add or subtract the current value from what is stored, and MC clears the memory. An M indicator shows when a value is held.

    Can I use my keyboard?

Yes. In Math and Engineering modes you can type digits, operators, parentheses and the factorial key, press Enter to evaluate, Backspace to delete, and Escape to clear.

Can it add or remove tax and VAT?

Yes. The Tax / VAT helper in Accountant mode lets you add a rate to a net amount to find the gross, or remove a rate from a gross amount to find the net and the tax portion.

    Are my calculations stored anywhere?

All calculations run locally in your browser and are never uploaded to a server. The History panel is saved in your browser so it is still there on your next visit, and you can clear it at any time.
